Columbia Choral Society Performs “Requiem for the Living” by Dan Forrest

The Columbia Choral Society, on May 19 at 4 p.m., will be under the baton of Dr. Elizabeth M. Mears, and accompanied by Allison Hilbish and a small ensemble. They will perform the moving and inspiring work “Requiem for the Living” by Dan Forrest who has South Carolina ties. This was Dr. Forrest’s first major work (2013) and has been performed across the United States and abroad. The five-part masterwork mostly follows the traditional structure and text of a requiem but focuses the prayers on the living – those who are living with the reality of a lost loved one. In so doing, Forrest creates an uplifting prayer of light, peace, and rest for the survivors of loss.
