Columbia Baroque Concert: Celebration of Women

Columbia Baroque’s Celebration of Women Concert takes place May 15 at the USC School of Music Recital Hall. The concert honors the memory of O’Neill Barrett Jr., M.D. and presents music featuring women as composers, performers or subjects. Highlights include a Vivaldi Lute Concerto; music by Telemann, Monteverdi, and Purcell; and women composers Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Barbara Strozzi, and Julie Pinel. Guest artist Hazel Ketchum (lute and soprano) joins Columbia Baroque members Brittnee Siemon, mezzo soprano; Jean Hein, Baroque recorders; Erika Cutler, Baroque violin; Mary Hoyt, Baroque violin; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; and Jerry Curry, harpsichord. Concert Conversations with Sarah F. Williams begins at 7 p.m. followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m.
