Cognitive Dissonance

Cognitive Dissonance is a group exhibition featuring the work of nine contemporary ceramics artists. As stated by the curator, Anthony Merino, “Society is only as perfect as the material it is forged from. Just as ceramics is only as pure as the material it is made from. Faced with this assertion, nihilism becomes seductive. The artists selected to be in Cognitive Dissonance all eschew this assumption. Their works affirm that imperfection is not only essential but in some ways glorious. As such, the lively experiment started in Rhode Island, continues today and perpetually.” On view at the Spartanburg Art Museum from January 26 – March 25, 2016. A special reception celebrating the exhibition will be held January 28th from 6-8pm.
