Class — Felt Cloche Hat with Marlene Gruetter
Artist Marlene Gruetter of Seni Studio will lead a workshop on the basics of traditional felt making August 5 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Olde Village Community Building in North Charleston. Participants will manipulate fibers using a resist to create a one-of-a-kind, fashionable felt cloche hat. A resist is used in felt making to create the 3D shape of the hat. Once the hat has been moderately felted, the resist is removed and additional felting is executed to shrink the wool. The hat can then be uniquely free formed and styled by the student. Fee: $65 + $20 for materials ($85 total). All students must bring three towels for the workshop. Registration closes August 2 at 5 p.m. Call 843-740-5852 to register.
