The Milliken Art Gallery at Converse College in Spartanburg presents Circumpliance, a mixed media installation combining visual art and music, February 4 – March 3. The exhibition will feature original music composition by Dr. Peter B. Kay paired with sculptural elements using pieces of decommissioned pianos and collaboratively installed by Kay, Kris Neely, Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Studio Art at Wofford College and Lynn Rhodes. The sculpted piano parts and the electronic music tracks will shape the experience, with 88 unique stereo tracks that comprise over four hours of unrepeated audio. Using the random playback feature on three separate 2-channel digital audio devices, the music will play continuously for the duration of the installation. The artists will lead a Gallery Talk February 18 beginning at 6:00 pm, followed by a reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres.
