Chautauqua History Alive Festival | America at the Movies
Movies actually talk to YOU when history comes alive in Greenville and Spartanburg this June. Chautauqua’s annual History Alive Festival gives you a front-row seat to the early years of American cinema, where you can meet some of our greatest motion-picture legends. Imagine getting a chance to talk with Walt Disney, the man who gave us Mickey Mouse. Or meet Mary Pickford, cinema’s first international celebrity and the woman who made Hollywood. Or chat with Orson Welles, the boy wonder behind Citizen Kane. Or get to know Gordon Parks, our first African-American Hollywood filmmaker. That’s the Chautauqua Festival, where history comes alive from June 12 to 21, and all the shows are free. You can bring the whole family to mingle with movies’ brightest lights.
