Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival
Charleston Carifest is four days of cultural celebration, celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month, June 11 – 14, 2015. The event incorporates education, music, food and fun. It starts on Thursday, June 11, with a Symposium and Opening Reception at the new College of Charleston, North Charleston campus with presenter Dr. Claire Nelson, White House Champion of Change and proponent of Caribbean American Heritage Month. Friday, J’ouvert, Caribbean Mardi Gras celebration with assorted costumes, food and music provided by Carifest DJs. Saturday, the big Carnival Day starts with a Street Parade through the streets of downtown Charleston leading to Brittle Bank for the venue for the Caribbean Marketplace, artist performances, Caribbean music, Steel Band, Reggae and Soca.
