Chantale Gagné Quartet – Salute to Horace Silver
The Chantale Gagné Quartet’s Salute to Horace Silver takes place May 27 at Dockery’s in Charleston. A native of Quebec, Canada, jazz pianist/composer Chantale Gagné began studying music at the age of 8. In 2005, she studied with jazz piano legend Kenny Barron and realized jazz had become her deepest calling. The Chantale Gagné Quartet will play the music of Horace Silver, one of the most popular jazz pianists of all time. Silver was a popular member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and steeped in the Hard-Bop jazz tradition. This performance is part of the 2019 Charleston Jazz Series at Piccolo Spoleto. Hosted by Charleston Jazz, Dockery’s and Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
