Chalk It Up! Chalk Art Festival
Saturday & Sunday, March 28 & 29, 10 a.m. -5 p.m., in downtown Beaufort, SC. Presented by the Freedman Arts District, Chalk It Up! is an immersive open-air festival featuring live music, hands-on children’s activities, and large-scale street chalk painting by 50 uber-talented professional chalk artists from around the country. This distinctively creative event in downtown Beaufort combines community engagement and art appreciation in one free fun-filled festival for the whole family! Saturday will include artisan demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as rug hooking, blacksmithing, pottery and glass. Sunday includes a chalk art competition between the art classes of area middle and high schools.
