Celia Pearson’s Layerings | A Glimpse of Southeast Asia
Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach presents Layerings – a Glimpse of Southeast Asia, an exhibition by photographer Celia Pearson. Profoundly touched by the rich and layered cultures she glimpsed during two trips to Southeast Asia, Pearson felt challenged to stretch beyond her usual way of working. Layerings joins traditional prints with photomontages and prints on rice paper and silks. Some works are large in scale, and all are deliberately unframed, which lends a sense of immediacy and fluidity and invites the viewer to experience the work in a more intimate way. Pearson’s works are in many private, corporate and museum collections. The exhibition runs through December 30th. Free.
