Bachanalia 2020: The Intimate Bach

The Bach Society of Charleston presents Bachanalia 2020: The Intimate Bach on Thursday, Jan 9, at 7 pm at the Charleston Library Society. The program will feature Phoebe Carrai, Juilliard School of Music faculty and director of the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, performing the Cello Suite no.1 in G Major by J.S. Bach and offering commentary about the mystery surrounding when and where the popular cello suites were meant to be performed. Carrai will be performing on her 18th century cello. She will be joined for the second part of the program by internationally renowned countertenor Ricard Bordas and Daniel Sansone on period Baroque harpsichord. A reception featuring fine European wines and charcuterie will follow.
