Art Business Practices Talks in Lake City

Lake City Creative Alliance and The Francis Marion University Department of Fine Arts will host an Art Business Practices talk January 16 at the Jones-Carter Gallery in Lake City.  Ceramicists Alice Ballard and Tiffany Thomas will give talks on the topic of how artists can promote and sell their art. The talks, which are aimed at artists and others wishing to sell artworks, will cover such areas as how to price your work, how to work with a gallery, how to handle the logistics of packing and shipping artworks, and how to use social media to promote your work. A resident of Clover, Ballard is a renowned ceramics sculptor and arts educator. Her work has been widely exhibited and is represented by five galleries. Thomas is the owner of TthomasArts Studio, a brand and former gallery in Florence. She is currently living in Lake City, where she is working on a large commission of pottery that will be sold through national retailer West Elm. Free.
