Alex Powers “Drawing and Meaning”
Artspace 506 in North Myrtle Beach presents a solo exhibition of works by Alex Powers, “Drawing and Meaning,” from May 28 – July 25, 2015. The exhibit is free. The show focuses on drawings created by Powers over the course of the last several years during which he has worked almost exclusively with drawing as a vehicle for personal expression. Powers is a draftsman with observational skills that he brings to studies of figures. Using sometimes the most minimal of drawing media, charcoal, or a pencil, he has developed an artistic style that is immediate, raw and powerful. Powers is an award winning nationally and internationally known artist, writer and teacher and the winner of the Gold Medal from the American Watercolor Society (1997).
