Alex Depue is described as one of the leading improv violinists of his generation, with legendary prowess in bluegrass, rock, classical, jazz and blues. He began studying classical violin at age five, won his first major competition at age ten, and later at age fourteen, performed at Carnegie Hall as Concertmaster for the National Guild Youth Symphony Orchestra. Despite his classical training, Alex became interested in old-time fiddle contests. He is a two time National Fiddling Champion, and was deemed “Fiddle King” at the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddler’s Convention. Alex Depue brings his violin and fiddle prowess to the Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 8:00pm. Tickets are $15.
