A Study in Silence – An Exhibition of Paintings by Ashley Rabanal
The Union County Arts Council presents A Study in Silence, an exhibition of paintings by Ashley Rabanal. With a focus on small gestures, color relationships, cropped figures, and gently disrupted fabric, A Study in Silence stems from the artist’s own search for stillness, quiet, and clarity in a time that is fast-paced, loud, and digitized. The repeated motif of undulating fabric bears traces of human touch in a world where direct human interaction and presence are increasingly absent. The frequent appearance of blue green references fleshly undertones and the verdaccio tradition, as the work looks to the past while grappling with the human experience of the present. This exhibition will include a free artwork raffle at the reception on March 26 at 6 p.m.
Artwork sponsored in part by a project grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission.
