A Requiem for Absalom – Sacred Music of Remembrance

The King’s Counterpoint in Charleston presents two performances of A Requiem for Absalom – Sacred Music of Remembrance, September 9th at Grace Church Cathedral, and¬†September 10th at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church. The performances include songs of remembrance and a few of the many settings of David’s Lament, including pieces by Tomkins, Weelkes, Ramsey, Billings, and Gombert, plus Victoria’s ‘Officium Defunctorum’ for six voices, and Graham Keitch’s moving “Absalon fili mi,” composed for our ensemble. Both perfomances begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $10 – $20.
