Nation Beat

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Music presents Nation Beat, a performance of jazz-infused, funkified New Orleans-meets-Brazil carnival sound, February 26th at 7:30 p.m., in the Lib Jackson Student Union on campus in Conway. The band has long been at the forefront of merging different musical elements together. In 2017, it entered a new phase in its cross-cultural exploration when it combined the sounds of brass band and percussion. Band leader Scott Kettner performs on drums, Paul Carlon on tenor sax, Mark Collins on trumpet, Mariel Bildsten on trombone, and Joe Correia on sousaphone.
