2015 South Carolina Arts Awards

The S.C. Arts Awards is an annual celebration of the statewide arts community that honors recipients of the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Awards for the Arts and the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Awards. The awards are presented in conjunction with the S.C. Arts Gala, the S.C. Arts Foundation’s fundraiser benefiting the arts education and arts development programs at the S.C. Arts Commission. The gala will include an art sale featuring works by some of South Carolina’s finest artists.

The Verner Awards and the Folk Heritage Awards will be presented May 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the lower lobby of the State House, Lt. Governor Henry McMaster presiding. The ceremony is open to the public.

The 2015 South Carolina Arts Awards include the McNair Award, presented in some years to honor outstanding leaders building on the legacy of the late Gov. Robert McNair. The McNair Award will be presented May 13 during a special concert beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 702 Whaley St., Columbia. The concert is open to the public.

Award recipients will also be recognized at a luncheon hosted by McKissick Museum, May 13 at 12:30 p.m., at the Spigner House, 915 Gregg Street, on the USC Campus. Tickets are $20, by reservation only; email or call Ja-Nae Epps at McKissick Museum, jmepps0@mailbox.sc.edu, (803) 777-2876.
