And the award for ‘Best of Fringe’ goes to…

S.C. Experimental Theatre Initiative grabs win at regional conference

Selected as one of only two productions representing South Carolina at this year’s festival, SCETI’s recognition makes a significant achievement not only for the company, but for the state’s broader theatre community. In recent years, South Carolina has not been represented at the festival, making the award a notable moment for the region’s artistic presence.

SCETI’s MEDEA exemplifies the organization’s commitment to bold, immersive, and experimental performance. The production centered on pushing traditional theatrical boundaries, inviting audiences into a visceral and immediate experience rather than a passive viewing. This approach reflects SCETI’s ongoing mission to challenge conventional forms and expand what theatre can be in South Carolina and beyond.

Founded with the goal of cultivating innovative and boundary-pushing performance in South Carolina, SCETI has quickly established itself as an ensemble dedicated to developing new work and creating transformative audience experiences. The Best of Fringe award further positions the organization as an emerging voice within South Carolina’s theatre landscape.

SCETI extends its gratitude to the audiences, artists and supporters whose engagement and belief made this achievement possible.
