Alternate ROOTS seeks art and performances for annual meeting

Alternate ROOTS invites submission of poster art entries for the 38th ROOTS Week annual meeting and retreat being held Aug. 5-10 in Arden, N.C. Art chosen for the event will be used in marketing materials, online, and in the creation of a unique poster to be sold and auctioned.

The selected artist will receive $500 cash, a full scholarship to ROOTS Week (value: $350-$450), and up to $350 in travel support. The submission deadline is March 31.

The organization is also accepting applications for visual arts scholarships to attend ROOTS week (deadline: March 31) and applications to present learning exchanges or to perform (deadline for both applications: April 28.)

The Alternate ROOTS 38th ROOTS Week: Annual Meeting & Artists Retreat is a week-long gathering of members, activists and supporters in a retreat setting. Activities include artistic and professional training, performances, networking opportunities and training in how artists can approach their work with a social and environmental justice lens.
