701 CCA Prize is looking for artists 40 and younger
701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia announces the fourth installment of the 701 CCA Prize, a biennial, juried art competition and exhibition for professional South Carolina artists 40 years and younger.
The project takes place this year with a juried process resulting in a November – December exhibition for the competition’s three finalists and an award celebration announcing the winner. This exhibition will then travel to Lake City for a second January-February exhibition.
The 701 CCA Prize winner will receive:
- a six-week, paid residency at 701 CCA;
- a solo exhibition at 701 CCA;
- and an ad in a national art publication concurrent with the solo exhibition.
Eligible artists are invited to apply for the 701 CCA Prize 2018 by September 1 at 11:30 p.m. ET.
An independent jury of three art professionals will evaluate all work submitted and select the three finalists, who will be included in the 701 CCA Prize Exhibition, as well as the winner of the prize, who will be announced at 701 CCA Prize Celebration on Nov. 29 at 701 CCA. The jury panel will select the winner based on the artists’ initial applications, not the work in the Prize Exhibition.
After the 701 CCA Prize exhibition closes in Columbia on Dec. 23, 2018, the exhibition of the three finalists will travel to Lake City in January 2019.
