2023 art publications eligible for regional award

40th Annual LoPresti Art Publication Awards Competition

ENTRY DEADLINE: September 10, 2024

Art publications copyrighted in 2023 are eligible for entry to the ARLIS/NA Southeast LoPresti Award Committee for consideration in the 40th Annual Mary Ellen LoPresti Art Publication Awards Competition.

The Art Libraries Society of North America is the largest international professional organization devoted to art librarianship. The Southeast Chapter of ARLIS/NA established the LoPresti Publication Award Competition in 1985 to recognize and encourage excellence in art publications issued in the Southeastern United States.

Museums, galleries, educational institutions, libraries, organizations, specialty presses, and commercial presses are encouraged to submit publications for consideration. All publications will be judged on the quality of content and book design within the appropriate category. The number of items that may be submitted is not restricted.

Art and architecture books, exhibition catalogues, electronic publications (DVDs), serials, and artist’s books published/copyrighted during the 2023 calendar year in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, or the Virgin Islands are eligible for consideration for this year’s award. In-house newsletters, posters, invitations, and other promotional material will not be considered.

Entries must be submitted by Sept. 10, 2024 for consideration. There is no entry fee.

Please complete the entry form and mail entries to:

Virginia Seymour
Jen Library – SCAD Savannah
22 E. Lathrop Ave
Savannah, GA 31415

Winners of the awards will be announced at the ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter Conference meeting, held annually in late autumn. Winners will be notified by mail and will be reported in various regional library and arts publications. There is no entry fee, but ARLIS/SE reserves the right to retain all works submitted for consideration. The winning publications are housed at the Duke University East Campus Library in Durham, North Carolina.

The publication awards are named for Mary Ellen LoPresti, who was the design librarian at the Harrye B. Lyons Design Library, North Carolina State University, until her death in 1985.
