Zinesters: An Art Exhibit Featuring the Comic Book Artform

A zine, short for magazine, is an independent comic book, photography booklet, pamphlet, sticker, or other publication that uses cartoon drawings. Presbyterian College in Clinton presents Zinesters: An Art Exhibit Featuring the Comic Book Artfor, featuring artwork from eleven ’zine enthusiasts who are bringing back the comic book artform. The exhibit takes place from Sep. 5 to Nov. 23 in the Elizabeth Stone Harper Gallery of the Harper Center for the Arts. As stated by Caroline Leigh Smith, one of the artists whose work is featured in the exhibit, “In this age of social media, zines are another way creatives reach out to openly express ‘their stories’ through the use of cartoon drawing and the printed media.”
