Wael Farouk: The Zimmerli Piano Concert

Converse College presents Wael Farouk: The Zimmerli Piano Concert March 20 in the Daniel Recital Hall. A Spartanburg favorite since his days as a graduate student at the Petrie School of Music, Farouk has performed around the world—on five continents—as both concerto soloist and recitalist. He gave the Egyptian premieres of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3, Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2, and Prokofiev Piano Concertos Nos. 1, 2, and 3, and in 2013 he made his New York solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall. Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of the Performing Arts, where Farouk is a faculty member, was the setting for a remarkable five-recital series in which he performed the complete solo piano works of Rachmaninoff.
