REMNANTS: Jim Arendt | SC Arts Commission 50th Anniversary Fellowship Exhibit
In partnership with the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the South Carolina Arts Commission, The Arts Center of Greenwood is hosting a solo exhibit for 2013 – 2014 SCAC artist fellowship recipient, Jim Arendt, September 6 – October 28. Influenced by the radical re-shaping of the rural and industrial landscapes in which he was raised, Arendt’s artwork investigates how individual lives are affected by transitions in economic structures. He makes frequent use of fabric, primarily blue-denim material, to reinforce the idea of the “worn-out” laborer in his sculptural forms. REMNANTS features an entirely new body of work including 10 life-size sculptures of the human form in repose. The exhibit is one of 15 exhibitions taking place throughout South Carolina of current and past visual and craft artist fellowship recipients.
