Platonov at Longstreet Theatre

University of SC Department of Theatre and Dance presents Platonov November 9 – 17 at Longstreet Theatre. This first, originally untitled farce by influential playwright Anton Chekhov was never published in his lifetime. Finding himself on a downward spiral fueled by lust and alcohol, disillusioned schoolteacher Mikhail Platonov proudly lives by the credo “speak ill of everything.” Platonov’s cynical wit and world-weariness belie a charisma that proves irresistible to the opposite sex, leading him into a tangled – and dangerous – web of love and deceit. Tickets $15 – $22.
