“Next Step” Wheel Throwing Pottery Classes – May/June

Columbia Art Center offers “Next Step” Wheel Throwing pottery classes, Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm, with instructor Tuula Widdifield. This six-week course is designed specifically for those who know basic throwing techniques but want to advance their skills. Students must be able to center the clay and pull a small cylinder. The class will cover forming a cylinder into a shape; creative decorative designs on the clay surface; creating and attaching handles; throwing and fitting a lid; shaping a spout for a pitcher; and more. The course will be offered May 6th through June 10th, and September 9th through October 14th. Each session has a minimum enrollment of three and a maximum of six. The registration deadline is two weeks before the first class meeting. The registration fee covers instruction and supplies. Students must have their own pottery tools (kits available at the Art Center for $10).
