In the Company of Animals: Pets of Charleston
Animals have always been part of a human’s everyday life, whether worshiped, hunted for food or used as a means of transportation and labor. Over the years, this relationship evolved into one of companionship. Highlighting photographers such as Morton B. Paine, Franklin Frost Sams and Chansonetta Stanley Emmons, In the Company of Animals: Pets of Charleston chronicles how Charlestonians spent their time in the company of animals. This photography exhibit is on display at The Charleston Museum May 21 – December 31. To accompany this exhibit, the Museum is hosting a Pets of Charleston Photo Contest through the summer.
