[create]ures: animals in contemporary art
Animals have lived on earth without humans, but humans have never lived on earth without animals. For tens of thousands of years, our relationship with animals has transcended the physical into spaces of myth and magic. Spartanburg Art Museum’s winter exhibition, [create]ures: animals in contemporary art, explores our complex relationships to animals: from broad ideas like reverence and dominion, to very specific issues such as climate change and industrial farming practices. The works are on view November 21st through February 9th. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from 1 to 5pm. Admission is always free.
