Brayers on Layers Workshop
701 Center for Contemporary Art offers a Brayers on Layers Workshop June 11 – 15 for ages 9 – 17. Students will jump start their creativity by connecting with the work of an inspiring artist: Jasper Johns. Students will spend a week learning printmaking techniques and create a series of artworks where they choose the subject matter/theme. From SC and one of the most famous artists still alive, Johns has a wide range of processes to learn from and spark inspiration. Students will learn the secrets of why a collograph works, how it’s like a collage and what makes it a type of printmaking. Instructor Chris Stafford received his Masters from USC and has been a public high school art teacher for 19 years, along with working with middle school students. Members: $110; non-members: $125.
