After School Art for Kids and Teens at the Newberry Arts Center

After School Art Classes for Kids and Teens with instructors Megan Gordon and Marquerite Palmer will be held at the Newberry Arts Center for the final semester of the school year. Classes begin the week of January 16. Students will learn the basics and intricacies of pottery making, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and more during the semester. Tuesday classes are for ages 6 to 8; Wednesday classes are for ages 9 to 11; Thursday classes are for ages 12 to 15. Fee $225. Classes begin the week of September 5th and run through the week of December 12th. Students will have age-appropriate, but challenging lessons in pottery making, painting, papermaking, printmaking, sculpture, and more throughout the semester. The Oddbird Society: Good Books and Amazing Art for Kids

M. Judson Booksellers and Storytellers in Greenville is offering a new series of summer classes for rising 1st through 5th graders. The Oddbird Society: Good Books and Amazing Art for Kids takes place July 26th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Certified language arts teacher and museum educator Rima Kane will lead an interactive printmaking lesson exploring the Italian Renaissance and incorporating the children's book, Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) Summer Art Camp for Kids

The Society of Bluffton Artists' 2020 Summer Art Camp for kids has been rescheduled in light of the coronavirus. The camp will now run July 13-17 for ages 6-9 and July 20-24 for ages 10-12. Class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., at SOBA’s Center for Creative Arts (next door to the gallery in Old Town Bluffton). Organizers are taking precautions in light of the coronavirus, limiting the classes to 10 students. Each student will have their own work station, and no outside food will be permitted (drinks only). The tuition is $100 per child per week, including all materials.

Summer Art Camp for Kids, in Bluffton

The Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) is offering a Summer Art Camp for kids, at SOBA’s Center for Creative Arts, located next door to the gallery in Old Town Bluffton. Each week will feature different art activities designed to ignite children’s creativity through fun exploration of different artistic techniques. The instructor is artist Mary Burrell, who teaches arts and crafts to preschoolers, aftercare and camp children at Cross Schools in Bluffton. The art camps meet Monday through Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m. The one-week camp for ages six through nine runs June 22nd through 26th. The two-week camp for ages 10 through 12 runs July 13th through 24th.

Summer Kids Camp: Animal Art!

Come join us for a week of art projects inspired by animals with artist Gret Mackintosh. Campers will enjoy the exploring the process of art using new and familiar materials and methods to create fun works of art, exploring different animals each day. Held at Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston from July 29 - August 2 from 12:00-2:30 pm. Ages 5-10 years.

Summer Kids Camp: Pop Art with a Sweet Tooth!

In this camp, we will explore basic color theory and composition through the genre of Pop Art using popular sweets like candy, cake, and ice cream as our subject matter. Pulling inspiration from artists including Wayne Thiebaud and Andy Warhol, we will experiment with collage, and drawing materials like colored pencils, pastels, and markers to make our own pieces of Pop Art. Taught by Katelyn Chapman at Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston. From July 29 - August 2 from 9:00am-11:30am. Ages 5-10.

In this week’s PM session, students will work with 2 artists – both Mia and Paige will guide children through an exploration of art and nature.
